The heat of Florida spring has finally arrived and with it come iced drinks galore! This is the best time of the year to start indulging in delicious caffeinated beverages on the rocks. But with so many coffee-drinkers debating how to make the best iced coffee, you may feel it’s easier to go to your local coffee shop than make it with your favorite home brew (aka Organo).

That all changes today, because Mr. Coffee Concierge is here to teach you how to brew the most revitalizing and flavorful homemade iced coffee. Plus, we’ll hand over the ingredients to the most delightful spring iced ‘latte’ with honey & lavender.

What Ingredients Do You Need?

Making homemade iced coffee doesn’t require anything special, but you do need high quality coffee. That’s why we recommend our Organo Black or King of Coffee for the best cup of optimal tastiness. If you ran out and need to order more (it happens to the best of us), but are dying for a cup ASAP, any medium-dark roast will work.

Making Iced Coffee (Without Watering It Down)

If you’re ready to learn how to make the perfect cup of iced coffee, keep reading- you're almost there!

When you want a cup of cold coffee, simply brew your regular cup as you would to make it hot. Then, stick it in the freezer for about 30 minutes. In the morning, make your coffee first thing before jumping in the shower or completely your skincare routine. By the time you’re finished, your coffee will be perfectly chilled! Once it’s cold, then you can add it to ice.

You may be laughing because it sounds so simple, but many people make the mistake of pouring hot coffee over ice. This will only water down your coffee and result in losing a lot of delicious flavors. Boring! It also won’t get as cold as you would think.

Pro Tip: If you want to save time in the morning, make a cup of hot coffee the night before and leave it in the fridge overnight to cool.

Shake Up Your Cold Coffee Flavor

While many prefer their iced black, it’s fun to add a twist to your morning beverage, especially as a special treat!

There are many variations you can create with your cold cup of joe, but this time of the year, our favorite is this delicious iced honey lavender ‘latte.’

Iced Honey Lavender Latte

Okay, so it’s technically not a latte since it doesn’t have espresso, but we think calling it that sounds fancier. Plus, in our opinion, it’s just as delicious. Try it for yourself with the recipe we’ve provided below!

The beautiful combination of honey and lavender with coffee makes us wish we could live in an endless spring with flowers blooming all around. With just a hint of sweetness, this aromatic beverage leaves us daydreaming of wildflower fields and watching the clouds roll by.

Yields: 1 Cup

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup honey

  • ¼ cup water

  • 1 teaspoon culinary grade dried lavender flowers

  • ¼ cup iced Organo coffee

  • ½ cup oat milk

  • Ice

Directions

Step 1: Create the Syrup

Combine the honey, water, and lavender flowers in a small saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring until the honey is dissolved in the water. Remove the mixture from heat and let it percolate for 20-60 minutes will the lavender infuses. Pour the syrup into a jar using a mesh strainer to remove the dried flowers.

Step 2: Make a ‘Latte’

Before placing your hot coffee into the freezer to cool, thoroughly stir in 2 teaspoons of the lavender honey syrup. If you would like it to be more or less sweet, adjust as needed. After your coffee has cooled, add ice and top off with oat milk. Enjoy!

If this sounds as tasty to you as it is to us, order Gourmet Organo coffee today!
