Ringing in the New Year: Tips to Host the Party of the Year

Get ready to host the event everyone will be raving about until next year’s ball drop.

There’s nothing quite like closing the year out with a party with close friends and family. Now that New Year’s Eve is just a few weeks away, it’s time to get creative as you plan a festive and unforgettable celebration! Regardless of the size of your space, you can comfortably ring in 2022 with a spectacular New Year’s Eve event.

Get ready to pop open the champagne with these tips from our team at Mr. Coffee Concierge!

New Years Eve Parties that Pop

This year, you may want to have a more intimate gathering to ring in the new year. Whether you are serving drinks and appetizers inside or having a cocktail hour by the fire outside, it’s important to be mindful of your neighbors, especially if you live in a condo or have neighbors close by. Some people may prefer a more relaxing night in as opposed to a high-energy New Years Eve.

Keep the Noise to a Minimum

Avoid disturbing your neighbors by keeping the noise to a minimum.

This may mean skipping the noisemakers and kazoos. Although these may feel like an essential aspect of a NYE celebration, they can be a huge headache to neighbors who aren’t on your energy level. Instead, opt for some silent-but-still-festive party favors such as “Happy New Year” headbands and glow sticks.

If you have concerns about bothering any neighbors, let them know a few days ahead of time that you will be hosting a gathering and that things will wind down by 1 a.m. This will avoid any upset neighbors (or cops) banging on your door at midnight when you are busy watching the ball drop.

If you’re feeling extra friendly and your guest list isn’t too long, invite some neighbors to stop by and join in the festivities.

Decorate!

When decorating for New Year’s Eve, make it easy on yourself by incorporating your Christmas lights and decor.

Utilize the wall and ceiling to hang decorations like a disco ball or golden garland or switch out some lightbulbs for a color-changing light that can switch up the ambiance of your space. You don’t have to go crazy with the decorations, but little touches can go a long way to making the night feel festive as you ring in the New Year.

Delicious Bites & Sips

You don’t want to miss out on time with your guests, so that means you will have to get creative with what foods you are serving! Make a few finger food items in the oven (like chicken tenders and samosas), have chips and dip at the ready, chill items like deviled eggs and fruit and cheese platters in the fridge, and leave a few snacks like nuts and popcorn at room temperature.

If you really want to wow your guests, bake some delicious coffee brownies for an energy-boosting treat!

Make sure you offer a tasty drink to wash down all of the delicious snacks. You might not want to cater to everyone’s alcohol preferences, so offer one signature cocktail (and maybe a few bottles of champagne and cider) that most people would enjoy. A nice touch would be a hot chocolate or coffee bar for those that don’t drink alcohol!

Offering a signature drink like this iced coffee cocktail is a great way to give your guests a tasty buzz while saving on space!

New Years Eve Iced Coffee Cocktail

Whether you are hosting a massive New Years’ Eve bash and want to party all night or just having a relaxing night in for two, this special night carrying us into 2022 deserves a delicious smoky and sweet homemade cocktail.

Yields: 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp bourbon whiskey

  • 1 Tbsp crème de cacao (dark)

  • 3 Tbsp water

  • 8 Tbsp simple syrup

  • 2 dashes orange bitters

  • 1 ½ oz water

  • 4 oz Organo Gourmet Black Coffee (chilled)

  • Chocolate shavings (optional)

Directions

Shake all of the ingredients with ice and strain.

Pour the drink over fresh ice. Top with chocolate shavings. Voila! Now, that’s a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Practice Safety

If you live in the city, it’s best to avoid sparklers and other firework-related items for the safety of you and your neighbors. Instead, use glow sticks and LED wands to achieve the same effect.

Also, ensure your guests have a safe way home if you don’t have room for many people to stay the night.
